It's amazing how much emotional turmoil Tanner packed into these two canvases. Completed in October, 2020, Tanner incorporated a bare, rocky river bed instead of his usual lush grasses to symbolize the rough patches most of us have gone through. Just as in life, in Voodoo, there is a light across the horizon, seconds away from spilling over the landscape. The gnarled tree is reaching out of the dark towards the new day.

This painting was a journey for Tanner to create and it encompasses the struggles we all face in life.
